Do you ever feel like you’re constantly playing catch-up with life?
Major work projects, things to do for the family—when was the last time you had a real heart-to-heart with God?
Or even touched base with your girlfriends?

Have you ever read an article on “work-life balance” and just rolled your eyes because, honestly, it’s not that simple?
The idea of perfect balance is a myth—and it’s setting us up for failure.
Today, let’s explore a different, more realistic approach: prioritizing and putting your life in order.

Bombarded by the Myth of Balance

Everywhere you turn, there’s another article or reel about “how to have it all” and “how to balance everything.”
And trust me, I get it.
Right now, I’m working a very demanding 8-5 job.
I’m a mother of two (ages 2 and 7), a wife, helping my husband with ministry, and I just started this blog.
Oh—and did I mention I’m also on a weight loss journey?
Plus, mi nah lef out mi fren dem!

To say I get overwhelmed is an understatement.

I dove deep into productivity books, hoping they would help me juggle all these balls—but honestly, me drop di ball dem nuff time.

My Issue with the Idea of Balance

Here’s my real issue with the concept of work-life balance:
 The word “balance” itself.

Balance means an even distribution of weight that enables something to stay upright.
And there’s the problem—the idea of even distribution.

Not everything in my life deserves the same weight.
Some things are just more important than others.
That’s why the idea of “balancing it all” never sat right with me.

What the Word of God Says About Order

As a Christian, I lean into the Word of God when I’m feeling conflicted.
And even there, God doesn’t ask us for balance in how we structure our lives—He emphasizes order.

“Let all things be done decently and in order.”1 Corinthians 14:40

That I can get on board with!

Order means putting things in the right priority, not giving everything an equal share of your time and energy.
 Order > Balance.

How Order Changes Everything

When your life is in order, balance becomes less relevant.
 You prioritize what matters most.

For me, my order looks something like this:

  1. God
  2. Family
  3. Friendships and Personal Goals
  4. Work

Of course, the relationship with God is first and foremost Matthew 22:37 and all other priorities c can shift depending on the day’s demands.  For example I have to make dinner for my family, however my friend might be going through a crisis like the death of a loved one. While making dinner is usually high on the priority list it takes the back burner as my friend needs me.

But I believe that if we stay rooted in the principles of God’s Word, I’m on the right path—even when life feels a little chaotic.

Let’s Ditch the Guilt Together

Sis, let’s stop trying to balance everything perfectly.
Let’s get our lives in order, with God at the center.
