Knowing what the next step is can be scary, especially as a Christian wanting to walk in the will of God.

Have you always heard the voice of the Lord when you pray?
I don’t—and I’ve been on this journey for over two decades.
So what do you do when you’re not sure if you’re hearing from God—or if it’s just your own mind?

Here’s what I do:
I take it to the Lord in prayer and ask myself a few key questions:

  • Does this thing I want go against the Word of God?

  • If not, does it serve mankind in a way that brings about truth and righteousness?

  • Will it harm anyone? (When I say harm, I don’t mean hurting someone’s feelings—I mean being harmful in word or deed.)

I strongly believe that as we lean closer to God, He will direct our path.

Faith Steps: Moving Beyond Fearful Planning

Based on these reflections, I take the next step—in faith.

For a long time, I thought taking the next step meant learning everything about the subject.
Truthfully, it was just me being afraid to act.
Or, I would meticulously plan for every scenario—which, if I’m honest, was just fear rearing its head again.

Now, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, I focus on learning and doing at the same time.
 And honestly?
That has produced far more results than endless planning ever could.

Planning is great. It helps you count the cost needed for execution.
However, as a former premium gold member procrastinator, I can safely say:
Planning is where great ideas go to die if not quickly followed by action.

Action is what drives execution—and faith without works is dead.

Still Don’t Know What to Do? Start Small.

First, pray. Then, start doing.

Do what exactly?
 I don’t know… but do something small.

Showing up unsure with a small step is way to show God that your faith in what He has laid on your heart is at work.
Even one small task each day builds the momentum needed to keep showing up.

As you learn… do; then the way becomes clearer. Mistakes will happen. Lessons will be learned. But isn’t that better than never starting and watching yet another great idea bite the dust?

Now, with every small step, there’s a little more evidence—
The evidence of things not seen. (Faith in motion!)

Getting Stuck in the “What If…” Loop

Sis, getting stuck in “what if” is not a good place to be. We have all been there though more times than we would like to admit.

But hear me clearly:
All things work together for your good if you love God and are called according to His purpose.

If you’re feeling stuck, take the step you’re afraid to take.
Pray for His guidance and His covering along the way.

He will direct your path—but path direction can only come step after step.
 There’s no shortcut.

Sis, Take the Step Today!

What small step can you take today?

  • Is it praying for one minute?

  • Going for a walk?

  • Finally starting that blog, like I did?

Take the step, sis.
You are not alone—we’re all cheering for you!
God is faithful to guide you when you move forward in trust and obedience.
 You’ve got this. Let’s go!
